COLLECTING INFORMATION ON REGISTERED MEMBERS
As part of registering with us, we collect personal information about you in order for you to take full advantage of our services. To do this it may be necessary for you to provide additional information to us as detailed below;
Standard Registration
Registration is completely optional. Registration may include submitting your name, email address, telephone numbers, option on receiving updates and promotional material and other information.
School/Teacher Registration
When a teacher registers their Pupils, they give consent for us to collect data on their Pupils to participate in KNSB’s Services. Prior to sending us any personal information about their Pupils, it is the teacher and school’s responsibility to ensure that:
•they have followed all appropriate school policies and guidelines.
•the Pupils concerned have authorized the collection of the information and where the Pupils are under the age of 14, the Pupils’ parents/guardians have authorized the collection of the information.
Teachers and/or school leaders registering their school must give their consent at the time of registration to provide us with their own name, grade, school and their email address. Additionally, teachers and/or school leaders must consent for their Pupils to participate at the time of registration and provide us with the names and grade of their Pupils. We use this information to;
•send a confirmation email to the Teacher/School.
•to respond to any questions, concerns or problems raised by the Pupils/Teacher.
•to contact the Pupils/Teacher about any problems.
•provide reminders, guidance and recommendations to Pupils/Teachers.
KNSB collects Pupil’s data and information from the competitions and tutoring sessions to display to the Pupil’s teacher and/or school leaders. This data may be used by the school to tailor class and/or individual sessions for Pupils to help improve their performance. Personal Pupil’s data and information from the competitions and tutoring sessions is only available for viewing by the Pupil’s teacher and/or school leadership.
In cases where the school has organized tutoring for the Pupils, the school must obtain parents’ consent.
EMAILS
KNSB will use emails and official phone numbers as the form of communication between KNSB and/or Pupils/Teachers/Parents. KNSB uses personal data collected from Pupils quiz/competition results and tutoring to identify areas that require further attention. Some email messages that the Pupils and/or parent will receive can include;
•An email(s) reminding you about your recommended topics or other work for the Pupils to complete or work that has been assigned by the Pupil’s teacher.
•Emails that will help the Pupils to further understand the path to follow to help build their understanding, knowledge and confidence.
•Weekly/Monthly reports sent to the Pupil’s parent/guardian outlining Pupils results for the period and outline focus areas for the Pupils.
•You can opt out of receiving KNSB emails by following the instructions at the bottom of each email.
SECURITY
The website does not provide Pupils with any means to communicate directly with each other. There are no Pupils to Pupils chat rooms or tutor rooms connected on the website. At all times, Pupils are engaged in meaningful educative activity within a secure environment.
We strive to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information submitted to our website, and we review and update our security measures in light of current technologies. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.
However, we will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information you may transmit to us or from our online products and services. Once we do receive your transmission, we will also make our best efforts to ensure security on our systems.
In addition, our employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us. However, we will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorized access to your personal information.
